Mejay Gula

Mejay Gula has a diverse work experience spanning several years. They have worked as a Project Manager at site design group, ltd. since October 2019. Before that, Mejay founded Tender House Project in 2017, where they served as the Executive Director. At Tender House Project, Mejay focused on the cultural activation of Chicago's bridgehouses and worked towards their sustainable development.

In addition, Mejay has also worked as a Lecturer and Gallery Curator at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago since September 2017. They facilitated graduate students in the Master of Architecture and Emphasis on Interior Architecture program, specifically within the Tender House Project Studio.

Prior to this, Mejay was a Building Strategist and Construction Manager at Place Lab starting from November 2014 until August 2017. Their work at Place Lab included developing a mindful approach to city building, fostering community agency, and contributing to social impact design methods in South Side neighborhoods.

Mejay also served as a Design and Construction Manager at Rebuild Foundation from October 2011 to November 2016. Lastly, they worked as a Project Architect at LANDON BONE BAKER ARCHITECTS, LTD. from February 2006 to September 2011, focusing on affordable rehab housing and gaining expertise in construction management, affordable housing development, and historic preservation in Chicago communities.

Mejay Gula completed a Bachelor of Architecture degree from the Illinois Institute of Technology between 1999 and 2004. Later on, from 2005 to 2006, Mejay pursued a Postgraduate Certificate in Architecture and Community Engagement at Archeworks.
