Michael Kohan has a diverse work experience in the field of marine and wildlife conservation. Michael most recently served as the Science and Policy Director at Sitka Salmon Shares since December 2020. Prior to that, they worked as the Seafood Technical Director at Alaska Seafood Marketing Institute from December 2015 to December 2020. Michael also worked as a Wildlife Biologist at Alaska Department of Fish and Game from April 2013 to October 2015. Before that, they were a Contract Researcher at NOAA: National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration from 2009 to 2010 and from 2005 to 2007. Additionally, Michael served as a Peace Corps Volunteer from 2007 to 2009.

Michael Kohan completed their Bachelor of Science degree in Molecular Biology at the University of Washington from 2001 to 2005. Michael further pursued their studies at the University of Alaska Fairbanks, where they obtained a Master of Science degree in Fishing and Fisheries Sciences and Management from 2011 to 2013.
