Senior Engineering Manager at Six Nines

James Newton has a diverse work experience spanning over multiple companies and roles. James started their career as an IT Consultant at ComputerCC, where they provided remote and field support to business clients. James then worked as a Network Support Technician at Nexus Systems, followed by a period of being self-employed as an Independent IT Technician.

In 2014, James joined Omnitracs as a Software Engineer, where they built distributed applications and played a key role in various projects. James also facilitated the transition from waterfall to Agile Scrum and led training for new team members.

After that, they worked as a Software Engineer at CA Technologies, where they built Spring Boot applications and designed SaaS IPO as a pilot for an internal accelerator program. James then joined USAA as a Senior Software Engineer (Contractor), where they built RESTful services and integrated with multiple vendors.

In 2017, James joined Softworld as a Senior Software Engineer, and later that year, they also worked in the same position at USAA. In both roles, they developed strategies to update infrastructure with new technologies.

James then joined COFENSE as a Software Engineer in 2018, followed by Cognizant in 2019, where they worked as a Senior Architect and Senior Manager. At Cognizant, they designed software solutions, ported applications to different platforms, and built client Proof of Concepts.

Currently, James is working at Nextira as a Senior Engineering Manager, starting in 2022.

James Newton completed their education at the University of Louisiana Monroe from 2012 to 2014, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science. Prior to that, they attended Haughton High School from 1999 to 2002. During their high school years, they focused on subjects such as GT math and science, auto body repair, and auto repair. Additionally, in June 2009, James obtained a certification in ComptTIA A+. The institution or organization that granted him this certification is unknown.
