Erika Smale

Erika Smale is an experienced policy officer with a strong background in food technology and regulatory affairs. Currently serving as a Beleidsmedewerker at Skal Biocontrole since February 2022, Erika previously held the position of Senior beleidsmedewerker at the Ministry of Health, Welfare, and Sport from January 2014 to January 2022, focusing on food composition, food enrichment regulations, and health claims. Prior to that, Erika worked as a Senior beleidsmedewerker in food legislation at HPA Hoofdproductschap Akkerbouw, overseeing EU and national legislation and policies. Other roles include policy officer for pig farming at Productschap Vee en Vlees and regulatory developer at the Ministry of Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality. Erika's early career included statistical research at the Central Bureau for Statistics. Academic qualifications include a Master of Science and Bachelor of Science in Food Technology from Wageningen University & Research and HAS Bolsward, respectively.
