Amy Norton

Amy Norton has a diverse work experience in various educational and technical writing roles. Amy is currently an Instructional Designer at Skill-Up Technologies, starting in September 2021. Before that, they worked at Pierce College District 11 for over a decade, from September 2010 to August 2021. During their tenure, they served as an English Professor, focusing on global current issues and real-world writing. Amy also took on the role of Faculty Coordinator of the Writing Center from September 2014 to September 2015.

Prior to their time at Pierce College, Amy worked as a Knowledge Engineer (Technical Writer) at SafeHarbor Technology Corporation from April 2005 to January 2009. In this position, they wrote and edited knowledgebase Internet support sites and technical documents for clients. Amy also led team meetings and collaborated closely with clients to meet deadlines and goals.

Amy has also taught as an English Instructor at South Puget Sound Community College (SPSCC) from January 2007 to June 2007 and at Pierce College District 11 from September 2001 to April 2005. In both roles, they focused on instructing English composition courses and motivating students to excel in their communication abilities.

In addition, Amy had temporary positions at Pearson Education as a Writing Test Scorer from March 2004 to August 2004 and at Barnes & Noble Books as a Bookseller from May 2003 to May 2004.

Amy started their career as an Associate Editor at National Insurance Law Services Publishing Co from May 1999 to June 2000, where they researched, reviewed, and edited insurance laws for publication. Amy also communicated with state governments regarding laws, regulations, and bills.

Amy also has experience as an English Instructor at National University from January 1999 to May 1999 and at Owens Community College from August 1997 to August 1998. In both positions, they focused on instructing English composition courses and planning course outlines.

Amy Norton obtained a Master of Arts in English from the University of Louisiana Monroe in 1997-1998. Prior to that, they completed their Bachelor of Arts in English at Henderson State University from 1992-1996.

In addition to their formal education, Amy Norton has obtained various certifications. In 2023, they completed the "Learning Articulate Rise" certification from LinkedIn and the "UX Foundations: Accessibility" certification, also from LinkedIn. In 2022, they obtained the "How to Create Engaging Videos" and "How to Design Assessments" certifications from Coursera. Amy also completed the "Introduction to Coursera" and "How to Design an Online Course" certifications from Coursera in the same year. Additionally, Amy Norton obtained the "Presenting Technical Information with Stories" certification from LinkedIn in 2022.
