Steve P. Garza

Steve P. Garza is a Board Member and Co-Founder at Skillmil. Prior to that, they served as a Senior Program Manager, Operational Assessments for the US Navy from October 2011 to September 2017. In this role, they organized, directed, and managed teams of military and civilian contractor Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and stakeholders on large scale Naval projects.

Some notable accomplishments during their time with the Navy include organizing, manned, and directing cross-functional teams to achieve the first-ever launch of Operational Assessment Cell department to service all Submarine Pacific Fleet operations; optimizing work flow processes and decision making through assessment of KPIs across all departments; and realizing a 20% improvement of operational processes through assessment, development, and implementation of streamlined policies and procedures.

In addition, they collaborated with NOAA, Marine Fisheries, and other external organizations to improve Navy partnerships and relationships; reviewed and updated environmental impact statements to achieve operational training goals while meeting legal requirements for at-sea operations; introduced technology advancements through a newly established Innovation Lab; rapidly tested and employed technologies into defense programs, reducing time-to-market by 25%; and developed Continuous Improvement Process to enhance skills and competency throughout leadership talent, improving resiliency and adaptability in all mission areas.

Steve P. Garza has a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Management of Technology/MIS from The University of New Mexico and a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from University of Arizona.
