Marcel Pawlicek

Marcel started his career as an apprentice and rose through the ranks to head Burckhardt Compression as Group CEO, turning the company into the global market leader for reciprocating compressor systems.

Marcel Pawlicek started his career in 1979 with a 4-year apprenticeship at Sulzer Bros. Ltd. in Winterthur, Switzerland, where he learnt the fundamentals of manufacturing and received a diploma as a professional draftsman. He also holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, and an M.B.A. (Fordham University) in Marketing and International Business. Marcel rose through the ranks at Sulzer-Burckhardt, took part in the management buyout which led to the formation of Burckhardt Compression in 2002, and headed Burckhardt Compression as Group CEO from 2011 to 2022. Under his leadership Burckhardt Compression became the global market leader for reciprocating compressor systems and only manufacturer and service provider that covers a full range of reciprocating compressor technologies and services. Today, Marcel is a board and advisory board director in various internationally active companies. He is also the President of the Joint Chamber of Commerce Switzerland-Eastern Europe, Central Asia, South Caucasus (JCC) and the Vice-President of the Education Center Winterthur AZW, a leading Swiss vocational education and training institution in the field of engineering, electronics, logistics, ITC and commerce with three training centers across Switzerland.
