Ravi Uppal

Ravi has more than 37 years of experience in the engineering and infrastructure sectors in India and abroad.

Ravi Uppal has wide-ranging business experience, spanning over 40 years years of experience in the engineering and infrastructure sectors in India and abroad. He has held top leadership positions as Managing Director & Group CEO of Jindal Steel & Power Ltd. (JSPL), at L&T Limited and at ABB where he served, inter alia, as Member of the Group’s Executive Committee and Chairman & Managing Director of ABB Ltd., India. Ravi successfully set up Volvo’s operations in India as its first Country Head and Managing Director. He also chaired Schindler’s India Advisory Board and served as Vice-Chairman of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).

Ravi has worked for over 15 years in various roles around the globe, and in partnership with the Singaporean infrastructure company Yongnam, he has recently set up Steel Infra Solutions Pvt. Ltd. (SISCOL) for steel based civil and industrial infrastructure in India. Ravi holds, inter alia, a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi, which has honoured him as a Distinguished Alumni. He is also an alumnus of the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Ahmedabad and has been on the Board of Governors of the Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore. Ravi has received the Royal Order of the Polar Star and been named a Knight of the Order by the King of Sweden. Ravi is actively involved in several industry forums including CII & FICCI and holds a keen interest in social and community development in India.
