As the Superintendent of Business Services, Schmidt is responsible for planning, organizing, supervising, and evaluating the District's total Business Division. Key functions include collaborating with leadership to develop and implement strategic plans that align with the District's goals, budget planning, accounting, reporting systems and ensuring that the District operates efficiently and effectively while serving the needs of the community.
For Schmidt, the Skokie Park District is an important part of his life, but nothing compares to the joy his granddaughter brings him. He often enjoys listening to Cher in the background while playing golf, pickleball, or taking a leisurely walk. Swimming is another favorite activity, along with supporting the University of Illinois football and basketball teams, reflecting his passion for both sports and family.

The Skokie Park District takes pride in its ability to serve the more than 63,000 residents of Skokie, Illinois and its customers throughout Chicagoland. Whether protecting natural resources, preserving historical sites or providing thousands of unique recreational opportunities within its more than 240 acres of parkland, the district has offered a multitude of quality programs since 1928. In addition to its diverse array of programs and special events, the Skokie Park District also offers summer camps, state-licensed full-day childcare and preschool, and before- and after-school care for grades K-5. The district is a past winner of the “National Gold Medal for Excellence in Park and Recreation Management.”
