Murtaza Askari has held various positions in the engineering field since 1992. Murtaza began as a student at Cadet College Hasanabdal, then moved on to become a Design Engineer at Communications Enabling Technologies in 2001. In 2004, they became a Graduate Research Assistant and PhD Student at Georgia Institute of Technology, where they designed, fabricated, and characterized refractive index sensors, as well as high efficiency coupling and bends for PCWs. In 2010, they co-founded Sinoora Inc. and served as Senior Member Technical Staff, designing on-chip resonators/AWGs, microring resonators, and coupled resonator filters. Murtaza then joined Georgia Institute of Technology again in 2011 as a Postdoctoral Research Affiliate, where they were intricately involved in design, fabrication, testing, and reliability analysis of Silicon photonic chips. In 2015, they joined Skorpios Technologies, Inc. as Sr. Director Design | Test | Layout, and Senior Principal Engineer, where they were involved in design and optimization of Echelle gratings, as well as circuit/schematic design for 400G/800G Test/Eval Board.
Murtaza Askari completed their Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical Engineering from the National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST) between 1998 and 2001. Murtaza then pursued a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology between 2004 and 2007. Murtaza continued their studies at the Georgia Institute of Technology and completed their PhD in Electrical Engineering in 2011.
