Zlata Plotnikova has a diverse work experience in various research and academic positions. Zlata started their career as a Laboratory Assistant at McGill University in 2016, where they conducted investigations on the role of proteins in Parkinson's Disease. Their responsibilities included maintaining bacterial cultures, performing protein expression and purification, and conducting assays on extracted proteins.

In 2017, Zlata took on the role of Chair of McGill Music Frosh at the Music Undergraduate Students' Association of McGill. The following year, they worked as an Undergraduate Researcher at the Alan Edwards Centre for Research on Pain and the Goodman Cancer Research Centre, where they gained research experience in the respective areas.

In 2018, Zlata held multiple research positions, including Research Assistant at the McGill Artificial Pancreas Lab, Research Volunteer at The Montreal Neurological Institute, and Undergraduate Research Assistant at the Cystic Fibrosis Translational Research Centre. Zlata also served as Vice-President, Internal Affairs at the Science Undergraduate Society of McGill University during this time.

From 2019 to 2021, Zlata worked as a Research Technician at Weill Cornell Medicine, where they contributed to research projects as part of their role.

Most recently, Zlata joined Sky IT Group in 2021 as a Software Developer.

Zlata Plotnikova completed their Ontario Secondary School Diploma at Sydenham High School from 2011 to 2015. Following that, they pursued a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Honours Biochemistry with a minor in Neuroscience at McGill University from 2015 to 2019. In addition to their formal education, Zlata has obtained certifications in JavaScript Algorithms and Data Structures, Responsive Web Design, and Scientific Computing with Python from freeCodeCamp in February 2021.
