Robert Baertsch

Vice President and co-founder at skyTran

Robert Baertsch has a diverse work experience in various roles and industries. Robert co-founded skyTran in 2009 and served as Vice President, overseeing the development of software and control systems. Robert also worked as the VP Engineering, responsible for communication and power electronics subsystems. Prior to skyTran, they conducted sustainable transportation research at NASA from 2007 to 2009. Before that, they engaged in human genome research while completing their PhD in Bioinformatics at UC Santa Cruz from 2002 to 2007, publishing numerous publications on the human genome project. Robert began their career with the United Nations in 1990, leading a software development team that built an application for UNICEF, handling funds exceeding $1B annually.

Robert Baertsch obtained their Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Stony Brook University from 1979 to 1984. Robert then went on to pursue a Ph.D. in Bioinformatics at the University of California, Santa Cruz from 2002 to 2010.
