Dave Harrington

Dave Harrington is an accomplished technology leader with extensive experience in engineering management and developer productivity. Currently serving as Director at Slack since August 2020, Dave focuses on enhancing the developer environment and tools to improve engineer effectiveness. Previously, as Senior Engineering Manager at Slack, Dave led the Test Infra team, significantly reducing test flakiness in the central monorepo. Prior to Slack, Dave was an Engineering Manager at Lyft, where responsibilities included overseeing a Kubernetes-based remote developer environment and building teams for long-term developer needs. At Facebook, Dave overhauled build tooling, achieving substantial reductions in build times and managing over 10,000 development servers. Additional experience includes software engineering roles at PeerJ, Lightbox.com, and BMT WBM, along with consulting in control systems. Dave holds a B.Eng. in Electrical Engineering and a BS in Physics from The University of Queensland.
