Slamdance
Meryem Lahlou is a multifaceted professional with expertise in design, programming, and architecture. As the Founder and Principal Designer at Little Lahlou since October 2023, Meryem integrates neuroscience and psychology into custom furniture design, focusing on environments that enhance cognitive function and emotional well-being for children. In addition, Meryem serves as a Co-Captain Programmer at Slamdance Film Festival, contributing to the festival's lineup to create a diverse cinematic experience. Previous experience includes project management in luxury residential projects at Paul Davis Architects, as well as architectural roles at Chartier-Corbasson Architectes and DGM & Associés, where Meryem worked on high-end commercial designs and various projects in Paris. Meryem holds a Master of Science in Fiction and Entertainment from SCI-Arc and two master's degrees in architecture from Ecole Spéciale d'Architecture.

The festival was founded in 1995 by Dan Mirvish, Jon Fitzgerald, Shane Kuhn and Peter Baxter and has since become a year-round organization championing emerging filmmaking talent and their new work. Programmed by filmmakers for filmmakers, Slamdance adamantly supports self-governance amongst independents, and exists to deliver what filmmakers go to festivals for – a chance to show their work and a launching point for their careers. Slamdance has earned a solid reputation for premiering films by first-time writers and directors working within the creative confines of limited budgets. Festival discoveries have included directors such as Christopher Nolan (Memento), Marc Forster (Monster's Ball) and Jared Hess (Napoleon Dynamite). Slamdance also attracts world renowned alumni including Larry Clark and Steven Soderbergh.
