Tim Bateson has extensive work experience in information security and risk management. Tim currently serves as the Head of Information Security at Slaughter and May, a prestigious law firm. In this role, Tim leads a team of professionals and is responsible for steering the firm's overall security direction. Prior to this, Tim held various roles at McLaren Group, including Head of Technology Risk & Governance and Head of Cybersecurity, where they set cybersecurity strategies and led the group's response to the Covid-19 pandemic. Tim also worked as a Senior Consultant at NCC Group, delivering cybersecurity advisory services, and as a Cybersecurity Consultant at PwC, where they helped clients manage their information security risks. Before transitioning to the private sector, Tim had a successful career in the Royal Air Force, where they held various positions related to networks, information systems, and IT management. Tim also gained experience in administrative work as a Member Services Administrator at The Benenden Healthcare Society Ltd.

Tim Bateson received an MEng degree in Electronic & Communications Engineering from the University of York from 2001 to 2005. Tim then attended the Royal Air Force College Cranwell from 2006 to 2007, where they completed the Queen's Commission program for Royal Air Force Officer Training. In 2007 to 2008, Tim completed Engineer Officer Training in Electronic & Communications Engineering at the Royal Air Force College Cranwell. Tim also holds multiple certifications, such as Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) from ISACA in 2020 and Chartered Engineer (CEng) from the Engineering Council UK, obtained in 2012. Additionally, they have obtained certifications in various cybersecurity and IT management areas.
