Guy Coates

Guy Coates is an experienced IT manager currently leading the IT team at Schlumberger's Gould Research Centre since February 2015, focusing on high-performance computing and research IT services across various scientific disciplines. Prior to this role, Guy served as Group Leader of the Informatics System Group at the Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute from March 2002 to January 2015, overseeing senior system administrators and bioinformatics experts in managing large-scale Linux/Unix clusters and supporting scientific applications. Guy's career also includes a position as a Senior Systems Administrator at the Laboratory of Molecular Biophysics, University of Oxford, and educational qualifications include a PhD in Biochemistry from the University of Birmingham, an MSc in Bioinformatics and Molecular Modelling from Birkbeck, University of London, and a BA in Biochemistry from the University of Oxford.
