Christiane Poblenz

Sr. Director, Epitaxy Operations at SLD Laser

Christiane Poblenz has extensive experience in the field of epitaxy operations, particularly in the development and production of gallium nitride-based optoelectronic devices. Christiane is currently working as the Senior Director of Epitaxy Operations at SLD Laser. Prior to this, they held various roles at SORAA LASER DIODE, INC., including Senior Epitaxy Manager and Epitaxy Manager. In these roles, they managed the 24/7 MOCVD growth operations and successfully built a state-of-the-art wafer fabrication and characterization operation. Christiane also played a pivotal role in bringing the high-power blue laser diode epitaxy process from R&D to production. Before joining SORAA LASER DIODE, INC., Christiane was involved in research and development at the University of California Santa Barbara, where they worked as a Project Scientist and Postdoctoral Researcher. Their work focused on molecular beam epitaxy for the growth of gallium nitride films for nitride-based devices.

Christiane Poblenz holds a PhD in Materials Science from UC Santa Barbara, which was completed in 2004. Christiane also obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from UC Santa Barbara in 1999. In addition to their academic achievements, Christiane has also acquired additional certifications. In April 2022, they completed a program titled "Unlocking The Power Of Perspectives: Problem Solving With Clarity Creativity and Collaboration" offered by MIT Sloan Executive Education. Prior to that, in October 2021, Christiane obtained a certification in "Fundamentals of Finance For The Technical Executive" from MIT Sloan Executive Education.
