Sean Michael

Sean Michael is an accomplished engineer with extensive experience in microfluidics and system integration. Currently holding the position of Engineer II at Slingshot Biosciences since April 2024, Sean focuses on the development of consumables and instrumentation for synthetic cell generation. Previously, Sean served as the Senior Engineer and System Integration Group Lead at 1859 Inc, where responsibilities included designing and implementing microfluidic consumables and instrumentation for high throughput screening platforms. Academic credentials include a PhD in Nano Science and Technology from The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology and a Bachelor of Science in Physics from the University of Washington. Sean's research background includes developing microfluidic platforms for protein measurement and single-cell assays, as well as experiences at the Institute for Systems Biology and various research roles spanning diverse scientific applications.
