Shyam Vala

Shyam Vala has over 13 years of work experience in the technology industry. In 2019, they co-founded Small Joys and became a Member Board of Directors at a i p h a n t. From 2016-2019, they worked at NBCUniversal Media, LLC as an Engineering Consultant and Senior Director, where they headed the engineering team focussing on building consumer products. From 2015-2016, they were the Vice President of Engineering and Director of Engineering at SOLS, where they led the technology team that focussed on developing tools to process the information provided by a customer and build a custom physical product. From 2008-2015, they worked at Thoughtworks Inc. in various roles such as Lead Application Developer, Lead Consultant, Senior/Lead Consultant Developer, Senior Consultant Developer, and Consultant Developer. From 2006-2007, they were an Application Developer Consultant at GMAC Insurance. Lastly, from 2005-2006, they were a Java Developer Consultant at Magellan Health Services.

Shyam Vala received their Bachelor's degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Osmania University in 2003. Shyam then went on to obtain a Masters in Electrical Engineering from the Illinois Institute of Technology in 2006.
