Tony Kirkland

Tony Kirkland, Jr has over 20 years of work experience in the banking and financial industry. Tony is currently serving as the Senior Vice President - Regional Credit Officer at SmartBank since May 2018. In this role, they are responsible for credit decisions and underwriter management within the Southeast TN market.

Prior to their current position, Tony worked as the Vice President - Community Investment Capital / Affordable Housing DPO Product Manager at Regions Bank from July 2017 to April 2018. In this role, they calculated and analyzed cash flow, interpreted financial ratios, and prepared sources and uses schedule for larger multifamily construction projects.

Before their role at Regions Bank, Tony worked at SmartBank as the Assistant Vice President - Regional Credit Underwriter from October 2016 to July 2017. Tony provided in-depth cash flow and business analysis of financial information and presented it to various levels of approval authority within the organization.

Tony also has experience as the Credit Services Manager at Lipsey's from August 2015 to September 2016. Tony'sresponsibilities included making credit decisions based on reviewing financial statements, trade references, and history with the company.

From 2013 to 2015, Tony worked at Regions Bank as the Vice President - Relationship Manager Local Real Estate. Tony was responsible for investor real estate portfolio growth and managed business opportunities and requests over $1 million.

Tony began their career in the banking industry at Synovus as a Teller from August 1996 to January 2000. Tony then worked at Wells Fargo Financial Acceptance as a Lender from February 2000 to February 2002. Tony also served as the Branch Manager at Hancock and Whitney Bank from February 2002 to January 2005.

In 2005, Tony joined Essential Federal Credit Union as the Assistant Vice President - Commercial Services. Tony assisted in the creation of the commercial lending division and had a high approval rate when presenting commercial loans to the CEO and the board.

Throughout their career, Tony has gained extensive experience in credit analysis, underwriting, portfolio management, and relationship management. Tony'sroles and responsibilities have allowed him to develop a strong understanding of cash flow analysis, financial statement interpretation, and risk assessment.

Tony Kirkland, Jr's education history includes obtaining a Masters degree in Banking and Financial Support Services from the Graduate School of Banking at LSU between the years 2019 and 2022. Prior to that, they earned a BBA degree in Management from Columbus State University from 1996 to 2001. Tony also completed their college preparatory studies at Columbus High School from 1992 to 1996.
