Gary Carey

Gary Carey is a seasoned engineering professional with extensive experience in test engineering and firmware verification, specializing in Solid State Disk (SSD) technologies. Currently a Senior Test Engineer at SMART Modular Technologies since November 2016, Gary has developed and executed test automation scripts in multiple programming languages, including Python and C, and has managed failure analysis and issue tracking using Jira. Previous roles include a Staff Software Development Engineer at SanDisk, where Gary focused on firmware verification and problem analysis, and a Senior QA/QC Engineer at HGST, responsible for validating enterprise SSD software. Gary’s career spans over 30 years in the data storage industry, with prior experience at notable companies such as Seagate Technology, Maxtor, EMC, and Data General. Gary holds MSEE and BSEE degrees in Electrical/Computer Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute and a High School Diploma in Electrical/Electronics from Worcester Boys Trade.
