Regional Vice President of Federal Sales at Smartsheet

Chris Aherne is the current Regional Vice President of Federal Sales at Smartsheet. Prior to this, they served as Vice President- Government at Expanse (formerly Qadium) from January 2019 to July 2019. There, they grew the new subscription business by 233%.

From January 2016 to December 2018, Aherne worked at MuleSoft as the Regional Vice President- Federal. There, they were responsible for growing the federal customer base from 16 to 48 and sales team from 2 to 10 QBSRs. The full federally dedicated team grew from 5 to 34 Headcount under their leadership. In September of 2017, they secured a $7.5M contract with the Department of Veterans Affairs. The total three-year contract value is $60M. In 2017, they were recognized in the top 25% among company managers in employee coaching.

At MuleSoft, Aherne established the federal business for the high growth, early stage, pre-IPO company focused on API led connectivity. Chris built a talented team to cover the federal market and created and executed a federal go-to market strategy including government differentiated messaging, product readiness, channel & alliance plan, sales execution and team growth and alignment. Chris aligned the federal business with the company's overall success, which included a successful IPO in March of 2017 and $6.5B acquisition by Salesforce in June of 2018.

Chris Aherne attended Gettysburg College, where they majored in history.

They are on a team with and Michael Godfrey Andrews - SVP of Strategic Accounts. Chris Aherne reports to Mike Arntz, CRO and Worldwide Field Operations.
