Paul Szurek

Paul joined Smash Capital in 2022 and co-leads the New York investment office with Brad Twohig. Previously Paul and Brad worked together at Insight Partners for 5+ years.

Paul Szurek brings a decade of diverse experience to Smash across the intersection of technology and finance, with extensive work as an investor, creator and operator of venture and growth stage businesses.

Most recently, Paul served as the Head of Venture Capital for Juxtapose, a leading incubation firm in New York, where he led the firm’s expansion into co-building partnerships and external venture investing.

Prior to that, Paul was a Vice President at Insight Partners where he focused on application software and consumer internet companies. At Insight, Paul led or co-led the investment of over $1 billion in equity capital across 15 companies and represented the firm in 11 board roles.

In addition, Paul ran the Strategy & Corporate Development team at Blockchain.com (a leading crypto software platform, last valued at $5 billion). Paul started his career at Bain & Company, working with clients in digital media, software and private equity.

Investments Paul has led or co-led include Monday.com, Insightful Sciences, Tradingview, OpenWeb, Divvy, SimpleNexus, Quantum Metric, VNDLY, ContractPod and Simscale, in addition to supporting investments in Vinted, Sift, Delivery Hero, Hellofresh and Qualtrics.

Paul graduated Summa Cum Laude from Wake Forest University with a B.S. in Mathematical Economics and Spanish where he received a fully funded academic merit scholarship.
