Alena Bartosova is an accomplished expert in water resources and environmental engineering, serving as the Head of Environment and Climate Section at SMHI since December 2015. With a rich background that includes roles as a Senior Researcher and Assistant Professional Scientist at the Illinois State Water Survey, Alena has conducted extensive watershed and water quality studies, focusing on catchment-level and surface water processes. Alena has also contributed to academia as a lecturer at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and Marquette University, where coursework included Watershed Hydrology and Geographical Information Systems. Alena holds a Ph.D. and a Master's Degree in Water Resources/Environmental Engineering from Marquette University and an Engineer's Degree in Water Management from Brno University of Technology.
