Mark Read

Mark Read, CPA has extensive work experience in the field of accounting. Mark is currently employed at Smile Brands Inc., where they hold the role of Senior Director - Business Integration Accounting since April 2022. Prior to this, they served as the Director - Business Integration Accounting at the same company from August 2018 to April 2022.

Before joining Smile Brands Inc., Mark worked at Waste Connections, Inc., where they held various roles. Mark was the Division Controller for the Southern California Division from May 2016 to August 2018. In this position, they led a team of controllers and was responsible for financial statements, budgeting, financial projections, contract analysis, and internal controls. Mark also had the experience of negotiating a major contract extension with Los Angeles County.

Earlier at Waste Connections, Inc., Mark served as the Division Controller for the Carolinas Division from April 2015 to May 2016. Mark'sresponsibilities included overseeing financial statements, managing a team of controllers, and handling various unique experiences such as overseeing the construction of a new operating location and being involved in an acquisition.

Prior to their roles at Waste Connections, Inc., Mark held positions such as District Controller, Assistant Controller, and Senior Internal Auditor within the organization.

Mark started their accounting career as an Audit Associate at Perry-Smith LLP from August 2008 to June 2010, where they worked on financial statement audits and internal controls for a range of clients.

Before that, Mark gained experience as a Tax Intern at Butler Robinson & Associates and an Accounting Intern at Gatekeeper Systems, Inc.

Mark holds a Bachelor's degree from Gonzaga University, where they also worked as a Jepson School of Business Student Aide.

In addition to their professional experience, Mark has also worked as an After School Aide at St. John's Episcopal School and as an Umpire at South Mission Viejo Little League.

Mark Read, CPA graduated from Gonzaga University in 2008 with a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree in Accounting. Mark is also a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) licensed by the California Board of Accountancy.
