Matt Hennessy

Matt Hennessy has had a wide range of work experience since 2004. Matt began their career as the Owner & Founder of QuickScriptz Design. Matt then moved on to the Canadian Sleep Society as Webmaster in 2014. In the same year, they were also a Team Leader for the Robert Lee YMCA Day Camp. In 2013, they worked as a Guest Service Agent and Night Auditor for the Residence Inn by Marriott, as well as a Guest Service Agent for the Marriott Gateway on the Falls Hotel and Conference Centre. In 2015, they became a Software Developer at Info-Tech Research Group. In 2016, they were a Lead Instructor and Mentor at Lighthouse Labs, and a Software Developer at FranchiseGrade.com. In 2017, they were a Lead Instructor at IIAD Global. Finally, in 2018, they became a Staff Software Engineer and Engineering & Developer Education Lead at Smile.io. In this role, they were responsible for shaping technical work and systems, spearheading the education and development of internal technical teams, and evangelizing the use of public APIs and tools. Matt was also involved in the hiring, training, and management of co-op students through a partnership with the University of Waterloo.

Matt Hennessy obtained their Ontario Secondary School Diploma from E.L. Crossley Secondary School. Matt then attended Western University, where they earned a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) with an Honours Specialization in Psychology. Matt also completed an International Exchange Student program at Københavns Universitet - University of Copenhagen, studying Psychology & Cultural Studies. In addition, Matt Hennessy holds certifications from ADVANCE Continuing Education, Scrum Alliance, and the Canadian Red Cross, including FOODSAFE Level 1, Certified ScrumMaster, and Standard First Aid and CPR-C.
