Melanie Folkert

Melanie Folkert, AICP is currently serving as the Vice President of Land Acquisitions at Smith Douglas Homes, a position held since May 2024. Prior to this role, Melanie was a Partner and Director at Rooted Development from March 2020 to May 2024. Melanie has extensive experience in forward planning, having worked as Director and Senior Forward Planning Manager at KB Home from June 2015 to March 2020. Previous roles include Administrative Services Supervisor at The Woodlands Township, Platting Coordinator at LJA Engineering, Inc., and Senior Planner at the City of Houston Planning and Development. Melanie holds a Master of Urban & Regional Planning with a focus on Real Estate and Economic Development from Michigan State University (2002-2004) and a Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies in Social Science with an emphasis on sociology and community relations from Michigan State University (1999-2002).
