Mara Determan is a seasoned accounting professional with extensive experience in tax auditing and financial services. Currently serving as a Manager and Supervising Accountant at Smith Schafer CPAs since January 2003, expertise includes the preparation, review, and audit of financial statements as well as tax return preparation for business clients. Prior experience includes roles as a Senior Tax Auditor and Staff Analyst at the California State Board of Equalization where responsibilities encompassed reviewing sales and use tax appeals and analyzing property tax law. Mara began the career as an Auditor-Appraiser for Solano County Assessor, demonstrating foundational skills as a certified property tax appraiser. Educational qualifications include a Master of Business Administration in Management from Golden Gate University and a Bachelor of Science in Accounting & Business Administration from Minnesota State University, Mankato.
