Kendra Hyson

Kendra Hyson is an accomplished Associate Urban Planner and Landscape Architect at SmithGroup since November 2021, while also co-founding The Urban Studio in May 2019. Kendra serves on the board emeritus of the Landscape Architecture Foundation, contributing to DEI and Olmsted Scholars Task Force initiatives. Kendra's previous roles include Senior Planner for the Prince George's County Planning Department and Montgomery County Planning Department, where responsibilities included project management and urban design standards development. Additionally, Kendra has experience as a Lead Instructor for a landscape architecture elective at IDEA Public Charter School, Project Coordinator at the Neighborhood Design Center, and various roles in the DC Government and LandDesign. Kendra holds a Master’s Degree in Landscape Architecture from the University of Arizona and dual Bachelor of Arts degrees in Fine/Studio Arts from Spelman College.
