Dave Tamayo

Dave Tamayo is the current Director at SMUD. Dave has also previously worked with the California Structural Pest Control Board, Sacramento-Yolo Mosquito and Vector Control District, EPA Pesticide Program Dialogue Committee, and Fruitridge Manor Neighborhood Association.

Dave Tamayo has been involved in public service for many years. Dave started their journey in 1997 when they became the President of the Fruitridge Manor Neighborhood Association. Dave then went on to work with the EPA Pesticide Program Dialogue Committee in 2008. In 2009, they became a member of the Sacramento Stormwater Quality Partnership and the California Stormwater Quality Association (CASQA). In 2014, they became the President of the Board of Directors for Sacramento-Yolo Mosquito and Vector Control District. Dave Tamayo is currently the Director at SMUD.

Dave Tamayo has a Master of Science in Entomology and Nematology from the University of Florida, a Bachelor of Arts in Zoology from the University of California, Berkeley, and a Professional Certificate in Energy Innovation and Emerging Technologies from Stanford University. Dave also has a certificate in Climate Change from the University of Melbourne and certification from the University of London in Global Energy and Climate Policy. Additionally, Dave Tamayo has certification from Coursera in Our Energy Future and Climate Change from UC San Diego, Georgia Tech University, and California Water Environment Association (CWEA).
