Yongyi Zang

Yongyi Zang is a Research Scientist at Smule, Inc. since December 2024, previously serving as a Machine Learning Engineer at Neosensory, Inc. from January 2023 to December 2024, where significant optimizations led to a 12.2x increase in training speed and a 30x expansion in training data. Prior experience includes a Research Assistant role at AIR Lab from July 2021 to June 2023, where a real-time musical agent was developed and a large guitar tablature dataset was created. Additionally, as a Software Development Engineer at Voice Biometrics Group during the summer of 2022, Zang improved backend systems for faster deployment while maintaining accuracy. Zang holds a Bachelor of Applied Science in Audio & Music Engineering with minors in Computer Science from the University of Rochester and has prior education from the University of California, Berkeley, and Nankai High School.
