Sage LaPena

Sage LaPena is a Healing Ways Manager and Clinical Herbalist at Sacramento Native American Health Center, Inc. since May 2018, and has been a Clinical Herbalist and Traditional Practitioner at Mountain Thistle Botanicals and Consultation since November 1996, specializing in the identification, collection, and preparation of herbal medicine, particularly herbs native to California. As a Private Consultant, Sage collaborates with various Tribal Nations in Northern California to enhance Cultural Resource Departments through education and workshops. Previous roles include Water Resource Coordinator at Hopland Pomo Tribal EPA and Community Health Representative at Hopland Tribal Health. Sage holds an Emergency Medical Technician degree from Mendocino College and a Clinical Herbalist/Ethnobotanist degree from the California School of Herbal Studies, among other educational qualifications.
