Massimo Cottafavi

Massimo Cottafavi has extensive experience in the field of cybersecurity and information security. Massimo started their career as a Security Consultant at Finmatica S.p.A. in 2001 before moving on to become a Research Assistant at Bocconi University from 2002 to 2007. Massimo then joined Security Reply, where they served as a Senior Security Consultant from 2004 to 2011 and later as a Manager from 2011 to 2015.

In 2015, Massimo Cottafavi transitioned to Snam, where they held various roles in the Global Security & Cyber Defence Department. Massimo served as an Information Security & Business Continuity Manager from 2015 to 2017, then as an Information & Cyber Security Manager from 2018 to 2018, and subsequently as the Head of Cyber & Operations Security from 2018 to 2021. Currently, they are the Director of Cyber Security & Resilience in the same department.

In addition to their work at Snam, Massimo Cottafavi is actively involved in advisory and board roles within the cybersecurity industry. Massimo is a member of the Advisory Board for Cyber Security & Data Protection at Osservatori Digital Innovation since 2018, an Advisory Board Member for Cybersecurity & Risk Management at The Innovation Group since 2021, and a Board Member of the AIPSA Associazione Italiana Professionisti Security Aziendale from 2018 to 2022.

Massimo is also associated with Università Campus Bio-Medico di Roma, where they serve as a member of the Scientific Committee for the Master's program in Cybersecurity Management starting from 2023.

Massimo Cottafavi completed a degree in Business Administration at Università Bocconi from 1997 to 2001. In 2002, they obtained a specialized degree in Business Security from the same university. Massimo also completed a certification in Team Management at Gustav Kaser Training International in 2012. In 2003, they obtained a certification in teaching methodologies from Università Bocconi. Additionally, Massimo has completed certifications in Internal Auditor ISO 28000, Lead Auditor ISO 27001:2013, and Senior Security Manager - UNI10459. In 2017, they completed a program in Leadership in action at MIP Politecnico di Milano, and in 2018, they obtained a certification in Management Reloaded from Elis.
