Karen "K" Tsang has over 10 years of experience in risk and compliance roles. Karen “K” is currently the Global Head of Risk and Compliance at SNV, where they oversee global governance structures, operating frameworks, and a global team covering various areas such as corporate governance, legal, tax, donor compliance, contracting and procurement, and SNV's Net Zero Carbon strategy. Prior to SNV, Karen worked at Thomson Reuters as the Senior Director of Risk, where they served as Chief of Staff to the Head of Risk and Compliance. Karen “K” worked with a global team of governance and risk professionals in the delivery of the Enterprise Risk program across 75 countries. Before that, Karen held positions at Manulife, London Life/Great-West Lifeco Inc, and BMO Financial Group, where they gained experience in areas such as enterprise risk management, operational risk, business continuity, and change management. Karen “K” also has experience in the healthcare sector, having worked at Scarborough Health Network as the Lead of Emergency Preparedness and Enterprise Risk. Karen has a strong background in risk governance, management, and compliance, and has built and led various risk and compliance programs throughout their career.
Karen "K" Tsang has a Master's Degree in M.Sc., International Management Research from the University of Liverpool. Karen “K” also has a B.A. Honours in International Development Studies, Politics, Policy & Governance from York University. In addition, they hold a Certificate in Network Security Administration from Centennial College and a Post-graduate Certificate in Emergency Management from Sheridan College. Karen also has a Certificate in Risk Management from the University of Toronto. Karen “K” has obtained various certifications such as Certificate in Financial and Credit Risk Management from the American Bankers Association, CAMS from ACAMS, Certified Bitcoin Professional (CBP) from the CryptoCurrency Certification Consortium (C4), CRM from Global Risk Management Institute, Inc., CBRNE (Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear, Explosive) Specialist Training with the Ontario Emergency Medical Assistance Team from the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care, and CBCI (AMBCI as of 2014 March) from the Business Continuity Institute (BCI).
