Matt Jarvis

Matt Jarvis has a diverse and extensive work experience in various roles within the technology industry. Matt is currently a Developer Advisory Board member at Asana, as well as an Ambassador for the Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF). Prior to this, they served as the Director of Developer Relations at Snyk and held a position as a Director, Board Member, and Vice Chair at OpenUK.

Matt has also held several senior leadership roles, including Senior Director of Community & Evangelism at D2iQ, where they managed a global team and provided open source guidance to the executive and engineering organizations. Matt has also worked as a Guest Lecturer at the University of St Andrews and as a Developer Advocate at Mesosphere, Inc., where they focused on open source projects and community management.

Before these roles, Matt worked as a Consulting Architect at Canonical Ltd., where they worked on cloud transformation projects using Ubuntu. Matt was also a co-founder and CTO at DataCentred, responsible for the strategy and architecture of their OpenStack-based public cloud.

Earlier in their career, Matt worked at IBM in various roles, including on the NAS architecture team and as a Senior Inventor. Matt also served as a Test Team Lead and Lab Systems and Network Infrastructure Manager, where they managed teams and oversaw infrastructure projects for the development lab.

Overall, Matt Jarvis has a strong background in developer relations, community management, open source guidance, and infrastructure management in the technology industry.

Matt Jarvis completed their education at Cardiff University / Prifysgol Caerdydd. From 1992 to 1995, they earned a Bachelor of Arts degree with honors in Applied Linguistics, Journalism & Film. Following this, from 1995 to 1997, they pursued a Professional Diploma in Independent Film Production. In addition to their educational background, they have obtained various certifications and has participated in multiple events and programs organized by The Linux Foundation, such as being a speaker and program committee member for events like KubeCon, CloudNativeCon, Kubernetes Community Days, and Open Source Summit.
