Sally Townsend is currently a Trustee at SOAS University of London. Prior to that, they were Director of Finance at Goldsmiths, University of London from May 2009 to November 2015. In that role, they were responsible for finance and corporate services, covering Finance, Estates, Residences and Commercial, Strategic Planning and Strategic Projects teams with a total staff of approximately 120 and a budget of £30 million. Sally was promoted from their initial role with responsibility for finance in 2013.

From January 2004 to December 2008, Sally Townsend was Director of Resources at the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority, responsible for developing and managing the finance, HR and facilities directorate with a staff of 15. Key aspects of their role included overseeing resource and budget management (of £7 million), ensuring the organisation’s business and corporate processes were efficient, effective and adequately monitored. Sally was promoted to this post from their interim role as Head of Finance and Strategic Projects Manager.

Prior to that, Sally Townsend was Financial Accounting Manager at the Cabinet Office from January 2003 to December 2004, and Financial Controller at Burson-Marsteller from January 2001 to December 2003.

Sally Townsend has a BA in Economic and Social Studies from The University of Manchester, an ACA from ACA:Member of Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales, and a BSc in Psychology from The Open University. Sally also has certification from The Open University in Introduction to Counselling, AoEC - The Academy of Executive Coaching in The Coaching Skills Certificate, and Freeformers in Digital Product Accelerator.
