Jake Segal

MD, Impact Advisory & Public Sector Practice at Social Finance

Jake Segal is a Vice President at Social Finance and leads the firm’s California office. In this role, he works with state and local governments, as well as foundations and nonprofit service providers, to create innovative, data-driven partnerships that deliver better results.

Jake’s work focuses largely on health and economic mobility. As a leader in the firm’s field building efforts, Jake is a frequent speaker and author of white papers on the intersections of government, philanthropy, and business. His writing has appeared in Governing and the Stanford Social Innovation Review, and he served as the lead editor for Workforce Realigned: How New Partnerships Are Advancing Economic Mobility, a book of case studies published with the Federal Reserve Banks of Atlanta and Philadelphia.

Prior to Social Finance, Jake was a Case Team Leader with The Bridgespan Group, a nonprofit consulting firm, where he worked with a variety of nonprofit and philanthropic organizations focusing on health care and impact investing, including acting as a facilitator for the US National Advisory Board for Impact Investing and a lead author of the Board’s report, Private Capital for Public Good. Earlier in his career, he worked at BCG, where he focused on global health investment and planning.

Jake graduated magna cum laude from Harvard College.
