Tom Cresswell is a Principal Research Scientist specializing in ecotoxicology at ANSTO since August 2012, focusing on radioactive and stable isotopes to trace ecological processes in aquatic environments. Key research areas include metal and radionuclide bioaccumulation in freshwater invertebrates and the ecological impacts of mining. Tom also serves as a Board Member for Science & Technology Australia, representing the Chemical Sciences Cluster, and as Vice President of the Society of Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry Australasia. Formerly the Secretary for the South Pacific Environmental Radioactivity Association, Tom's academic background includes a PhD in Applied Science from RMIT University and advanced degrees in Marine Sciences from the University of Plymouth. Techniques employed in research include trace element chemistry, metal speciation, and stable isotope food webs.
