Lenny Lopez has extensive work experience in the field of internal medicine and healthcare policy. Lenny is currently the Co-Editor-In-Chief of The Journal of General Internal Medicine at the Society of General Internal Medicine. Prior to this role, they served as the Chief of Hospital Medicine at the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. Lenny has also held positions at the University of California, San Francisco, where they were a Professor and Chief of Hospital Medicine, and at the Massachusetts General Hospital - Disparities Solutions Center, where they were a Senior Faculty member. Additionally, they have worked as an Assistant in Health Policy at Harvard Medical School and as an Academic Hospitalist at Brigham and Women's Hospital. Lenny Lopez has an extensive educational background. Lenny started their education journey in 1990 at the University of Pennsylvania, where they pursued a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Philosophy and Religious Studies. After completing their undergraduate studies in 1994, Lenny enrolled at the same university to pursue a Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) degree, which they obtained in 2001.

In 1996, Lenny took a break from their medical studies and attended Harvard Divinity School, where they earned a Master of Divinity (M.Div.) degree in Philosophy in 1999. Returning to their medical career, Lenny then joined Harvard Medical School in 2004 to specialize in Health Policy. During this time, they also studied Health Policy Analysis at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, earning a Master of Public Health (MPH) degree.

Lenny's educational pursuits continued at Harvard Medical School in 2006 when they embarked on a General Medicine Research Fellowship in Health Services Research and Epidemiology. This fellowship lasted until 2008.
