Murat Yildirim has a long and varied work experience spanning over two decades. Murat began in 2001 as a Research Assistant at the University of Iowa, where they conducted all-optical switching measurements and systematic investigations of slow-light and light propagation dynamics in semiconductor hetero-structures at various temperatures under high vacuum. Murat also characterized and grew MBE growth of Bragg-spaced GaAs/InGaAs and regular GaAs/AlGaAs quantum well structures. In 2009, they moved to Dalhousie University to become a Research Associate/Post Doc. In 2012, they joined TUBITAK as a Bilim Teknik dergisi- Yazar/Editor. In 2016, they became a Senior Researcher at Bilkent University. In 2017, they moved to North Carolina State University as a Visiting Scientist. In 2018, they joined Ottawa University as a Research Associate. In 2020, they began working at CyberNow Labs as a Cyber Security Analyst and also joined SonicWall as a Technical Support Engineer. Most recently, in 2021, they joined SOCRadar Cyber Intelligence Inc. as a Technical Account Manager.

Murat Yildirim's education history includes a B.Sc in Physics from Boğaziçi University from 1993 to 1999, an M.Sc in Physics from the University of Iowa from 2001 to 2004, and a Ph.D in Physics from the University of Iowa from 2001 to 2009.
