Matthew Barnes is a seasoned data science professional with extensive experience in various roles across notable organizations. Currently serving as a Staff Data Scientist at SoFi since January 2022, Matthew has previously held positions such as Senior Data & Applied Scientist at Microsoft and Machine Learning Engineer at Finn AI. With a rich background that includes Senior Data Scientist at 84.51˚ and a Data Science Fellow at Insight Data Science, Matthew's career began as an Assistant Professor at West Virginia University, following a tenure as a Research Scientist at Princeton University. Matthew holds a Ph.D. and a Master's degree in Political Science from Princeton University, complemented by a Bachelor's degree in the same field from Creighton University.
