Sebastián Jiménez Bonnet

Co-Founder & CPO at Sofía

Sebastián Jiménez Bonnet is a data scientist and entrepreneur who is currently the co-founder and CPO of Sofía. Prior to Sofía, Sebastián was a data scientist at Google for five years, working on data science for Google Search, including core ranking, product development, and growth. Sebastián also interned at StumbleUpon, where they designed a trust-graph to improve the quality of the core recommendations engine.

In addition to their work in the tech industry, Sebastián has also worked as a statistical consultant at Stanford University and as a business analyst at McKinsey & Company. Sebastián has also done research around legal data and teacher motivation as a research assistant under Jorge Luis Silva at Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México.

Sebastián is originally from Mexico and is fluent in Spanish and English. Sebastián holds a PhD in statistics from Stanford University.

Sebastián Jiménez Bonnet attended Stanford University from 2011 to 2013, focusing on Probability, Machine Learning, Statistics and Optimization. Sebastián then attended Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México from 2006 to 2010, focusing on math, probability and its applications. Theirhonors thesis was titled "The Uncertainty Principle and Sparse Signal Reconstruction". In 2009, they attended Stanford University's Summer International Honors Program, studying Data Mining, Time Series and Astronomy. Sebastián also attended Bachillerato Alexander Bain.
