Zhizhong Joel Y.

Zhizhong Joel Y. serves as a Partner at Sofinnova Partners since November 2015, leading the Sofinnova Acceleration Strategy BiovelocITA, which focuses on accelerating biotech startups in Europe. Previously, Zhizhong held the position of Principal under the Sofinnova Capital Strategy within the same firm, a leading venture capital entity in Life Sciences with locations in Paris, London, and Milan. Zhizhong has also contributed to various biotech firms such as Ensocell and DISCO Pharmaceuticals GmbH as a Board Director, and served as a Board Observer for companies including Mablink Bioscience and GlycoEra AG, among others. Educational credentials include a PhD in Chemistry and Chemical Biology/Systems Biology from Harvard University and a BS in Chemistry and Molecular Engineering from Peking University. Additionally, Zhizhong is a Kauffman Fellow from June 2019 to January 2024.
