Joseph Brown has worked in the medical and engineering fields since 2007. In 2007, they worked as a Shadow to Neurosurgery and Research Assistant at Lahey Clinic. From 2008 to 2012, they worked at Charles River Laboratories in two roles: Senior Technologist, Health Monitoring and Product Management. In 2011, they obtained their Master of Science in Chemical and Biological Engineering from Tufts University and also served as Program Coordinator for PRISE (Promoting Retention in Science and Engineering). Since 2016, they have been VP, Technology and Operations at Sofregen Medical Inc., where they have gained FDA 510K clearance for a first-of-its-kind injectable silk filler for vocal fold insufficiency and invented a novel endoscope-guided catheter system for delivery of highly viscous materials used during in-office procedures. Joseph has also established a quality management system per FDA 21 CFR, Part 820.

Joseph Brown attended Tufts University from 2004 to 2008, where they earned a Bachelor's degree in Biology, General and a Bachelor's degree in English Language and Literature/Letters. Joseph then returned to Tufts University from 2010 to 2012 to earn a Master's degree in Chemical and Biological Engineering. Finally, they completed their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Biomedical/Medical Engineering at Tufts University from 2012 to 2016.
