Mike Bassett

VP of Engineering at Soft Robotics

Mike Bassett has over 30 years of experience in engineering and program management. Mike began their career in 1987 as a Senior Mechanical Engineer at Benthos Inc. In 1995 they moved to PRI Automation as a Principal Mechanical Engineer. In 2000, they joined iRobot as Director of Systems Engineering / Chief Engineer of Roomba Product Line. Mike then went on to become Director of Program Management, Technical Director / Product Manager Defense & Security Business Unit, Director of Systems Engineering, Chief Engineer Ava Product, and Chief Engineer SUGV Product. In 2018, they joined Soft Robotics Inc. as VP of Engineering and Sr. Director of Hardware. In their role as Chief Engineer SUGV Product, they built a high-powered development team from scratch, navigated the SUGV development through the challenging FCS Department of Defense program, and spun out 310 SUGV EOD version to win a contract and deliver 950+ systems to support Joint Forces in Operation Enduring Freedom (Afghanistan).

Mike Bassett holds a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Mechanical Engineering from Cornell University and a Master of Science (MS) in Mechanical Engineering from Northeastern University.
