Josef Waltl is the CEO and founder of Software Defined Automation. Josef has over fifteen years of experience in the technology industry, with a focus on cloud computing and industrial software.
Josef began their career as a project manager at Siemens Management Consulting. Josef spent eight years at Siemens, working on a variety of consulting projects for major manufacturing companies. In 2015, they left Siemens to join Amazon Web Services as a global segment lead for industrial software. Josef spent five years at Amazon, helping industrial customers migrate to the cloud and take advantage of AWS’s vast array of services.
In September 2020, Josef left Amazon to join Microsoft as a principal PM manager for Azure Industrial IoT/Manufacturing. Josef spent six months at Microsoft before leaving to start their own company, Software Defined Automation.
Josef Waltl is a Dr. of Business Administration with a focus on Software IP management from the Technische Universität München. Josef also holds an MBA from the same school. Josef's undergraduate degrees are in Computer Science from the Universität Salzburg and Telecommunications Engineering and Systems from the Fachhochschule Salzburg.
