Gianluca Barbella

Gianluca Barbella is an experienced structural engineer specializing in seismic design with a focus on nuclear projects. Since May 2011, Gianluca has led the Structural Design Unit at Sogin, overseeing a design team and serving as a technical coordinator while also functioning as a structural dynamics specialist. Previous roles include a postdoctoral position at Politecnico di Milano from June 2009 to May 2011, where development of numerical methods for structural response to wind excitation was a primary focus. Gianluca has also contributed as a freelance translator for major engineering texts in 2010 and 2015. Gianluca holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Wind Engineering and Structural Engineering from Politecnico di Milano and a Master’s degree in Structural Engineering with a specialization in Seismic Design from Università degli Studi di Brescia.
