Solace House, USA

Headquartered in Long Island City, Queens, Solace House is a nonprofit organization that provides FREE counseling for people who are in suicidal distress, have made a suicide attempt, engage in self-harm, and/or have been bereaved by suicide. We also offer Group Bereavement Counseling, Family Support for our client’s loved ones and Community Awareness Workshops. Our services are completely free of charge, confidential and all our therapists are Licensed Clinical Social Workers with years of experience in the area of suicide prevention and mental health. According to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, one person every five hours dies by suicide in New York state. Therapy costs in NYC can be expensive and intimidating without the right insurance. Here at Solace House we believe money should never come in the way of saving someone's life, therefore, our services are free of charge and we do not require any insurance to attend. In order to keep our doors open and free for all, we rely heavily on donations. Each year we host our Solace Sunrise Walk, which takes place in multiple venues across the U.S. and Canada during the summer. This unique, exhilarating event starts in the dark and early hours of the morning with participants crossing the finish line just as dawn is breaking. This is symbolic of the journey many clients take when attending Solace House services; walking from darkness into the light, where hope and a sense of belonging replaces isolation, loneliness and despair. If you'd like to learn more about our walk or become a sponsor, please contact mary@solacehouseusa.org. If you or a loved one is in need of our services, please call our office at 718-481-0001. We are open from 9 am - 8 pm Mon-Thurs, and 9 am - 5 pm on Fridays.
