Matthew Pistner

Matt Pistner is a Senior Vice President at NRG, leading Generation. In this role, he oversees all of NRG’s power generation, including plant operations, asset management, development, engineering, and procurement. In addition to operating the plants, his team provides and receives support from safety, environmental, engineering, technical services, operations support, outage management, and operations planning and analysis.

Prior to his current role, Matt served as Senior Vice President of Plant Operations and held various regional vice president positions in the Northeast, West, and Gulf Coast for NRG. He has over 33 years of technical, plant, and corporate leadership in the United States and Australia.

Matt received his B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Pennsylvania State University, his MBA from the University of Tennessee, and his M.A in Applied Behavioral Science from Bastyr University in Seattle, Washington. In the past, he has served on boards of numerous community and environmental nonprofit organizations, including most recently, the Board of Directors for the Galveston Bay Foundation.
