Omar Koudsi

Omar Koudsi has a diverse work experience spanning different roles and industries. Omar currently serves as the Head of Cyber Security Governance at NRG Energy since August 2023. Prior to this, they held the position of Head of Information Governance at NRG Energy from January 2021 to August 2023.

Before joining NRG Energy, Omar worked at Direct Energy, where they held the roles of Head of Records Governance & eDiscovery from October 2019 to January 2021, and Sr. Manager - (Information Security) from June 2014 to October 2019. In these roles, they were responsible for various internal services, including litigation support, eDiscovery activities, IT investigations, telecom/call recording governance, data loss prevention program, records management program, and email retention strategy.

Omar also has experience serving as a Treasurer on the Board of Directors for Houston Greeters from October 2012 to July 2016. Omar contributed to the organization by promoting its mission of promoting cross-cultural understanding and delivering a warm and welcoming experience to visitors, locals, and newcomers in Houston.

Additionally, Omar has held roles at companies such as LyondellBasell as an Information Security Program Manager, Gimmal as a Director, Perficient as a National Director and Director for ECM Practice, and EMC as an EMC Partner Advisory Board Member. Omar also worked as a Consultant - Lead Analyst at Aramco Services Company and as an eDocs Division Consultant at Atos.

Omar's work experience showcases their expertise in cybersecurity governance, information governance, records management, eDiscovery, IT investigations, and project management.

Omar Koudsi, CEDS, obtained their BBA degree in Management Information Systems from the University of Houston, where they attended from 1996 to 2001. Prior to that, they completed their high school education at St Thomas Episcopal School from 1994 to 1996. In addition to their academic background, Omar has earned several certifications, including Certified E-Discovery Specialist (CEDS) from the Association of Certified E-Discovery Specialists (ACEDS) in 2018 and CPR and AED from the American Heart Association | American Stroke Association in 2023. Omar also holds certifications in Summation Certified Enduser (SCE) from AccessData in 2017, Symantec Instructor-led Training (ILT/VA) -Symantec™ Data Loss Prevention 14.x from ExitCertified (Tech Data) in 2016, and Prosci Change Management Practitioner from Gimmal in 2013.
